I attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Art History and Ethnic Studies. After completing my undergraduate degree, I attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where I graduated with a master's degree in Education. This allowed me to become certified as a teacher. I have taught in both private and public schools for eight years now. I have teaching certifications in a wide array of subjects, including History, Social Studies, Language Arts, and ESL. My certifications also allow me to teach from an elementary level all the way through the high school level. While I am comfortable tutoring many subjects, I am the most passionate about reading. My tutoring philosophy emphasizes the importance of developing the students' abilities to comprehend what they are reading because this is an essential skill for achieving success in academics. I also specialize in helping students perform well on standardized tests, which is extremely beneficial because these types of tests not only play a major role in academics, but they also play a vital part in completing most certifications or licenses. In my free time, I like to read, work in my yard, cook, work on crafts, swim, and volunteer.
